Welcome to Mr. Knighten's Web page!

Mr. Knighten hopes you find this website to be helpful and fun! This site is a work in progress, and it is his goal to improve this website each and every year with more links and important information for his students. This site will hopefully answer many of the questions that students and their parents throughout the year.

Mr. Knighten graduated valedictorian as a fellow of the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program from the School of Education at the University of Mississippi.  As a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, Mr. Knighten defended his senior thesis on the need for a coherent high school literature curriculum and the current sources of incoherency that hinder this goal.  During his time at Ole Miss, Mr. Knighten studied abroad at the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary, l'Université Catholique de l'Ouest, and le Lycée Maurice-Genevoix.  When he is not teaching, Mr. Knighten is working on his master's degree at the Bread Loaf School of English.  This past summer in the mountains of Ripton, Vermont, Mr. Knighten undertook coursework in literary theory of the nineteenth century novel and an entire graduate seminar dedicated to Homer's Odyssey.  He was also cast in Bread Loaf's summer theatre production of Shakespeare's All's Well that Ends Well, which afforded him the opportunity to work with Equity actors and learn how to make Shakespeare come alive for a modern audience.  In addition to his graduate work, he is a member of planning committee of the Transitioning to College Writing Symposium at the University of Mississippi.  In his temps libre, Mr. Knighten prefers pouring over great books and great authors, patronizing the theatre, and frequenting Missisissippi's best restaurants.
